Camouflaged Critters

Habitat: Classroom 124
Predator: Mrs. Rossignol

Our predator was on the loose in Room 124 searching for the Camouflaged Critters. Thank goodness this wasn't real life because our predator would have starved.  Our kiddos did such a great job designing critters that were hidden in our classroom. What a fun way to experience Science!!

Special Reader

We were so lucky to have a special Dad come read to us last week. Thank you so much for sharing your time with us. The kids were thrilled!

Special Visitor :)

How lucky are we to have a principal who visits our classroom to read to us and teach us about interpretation through the April Book of the Month, The Farmer and The Clown.

Flashlight Friday

So much fun reading with our flashlights today!!

Egg Drop Experiment

26 of our students created containers where the eggs survived the fall! We are so proud of all our students for participating and being so smart and creative!

Places Worth Stopping and Jotting in Nonfiction

We have been doing a lot of stopping and jotting with our nonfiction book club books. We are teching our students to be  flexible thinkers as they read. We are encouraging them to be open to learning more about their topics and revising their thinking when needed.

We also learned that we can make our own captions or add to them by putting together what the author tells us, what the picture tells us and our own thoughts.

Nonfiction Book Clubs

We are so excited about our nonfiction book clubs. Today we learned that nonfiction readers monitor for meaning and learn what the author is trying to teach us. We determined the main idea of a section of our book and the supporting details. We learned to jot about this by writing "The big thing I learned today is ...." And then included examples "For example, for example..."
We then discussed our jots with our book club members.
