It's not every day that we get to have a previous student come share her amazing writing with our kids! Our kids were so impressed and inspired from our little author visit! Thank you for coming to share your wonderful work with us!

Day 2- Grinch Day! 

We had so much fun reading the story How the Grinch Stole Christmas and writing about a time we had with our family that made our heart grow 3 times it's size!

Day 1- Snowy Day in room 124 :)! What a fun day! We read snowman books, made a snowman craft, played snowman games, and even had a snowball fight :). 

What is the author trying to teach us?

Our students have been doing a great job   using text evidence to support what the author is trying to teach us through their book. While we read the Book of the Month, Snowflake Bentley students stopped and jotted their thoughts about the main character and any surprising moments. They then took their thought jots and used them to figure out the lesson learned trough the book. They used their Reading Resonse Journals to record their opinion of what the author was trying to teach us and added their text evidence to support it. We were blown away by their hard work! 

Holiday Traditions

One of our favorite traditions here at Chets Creek is decorating the Christmas tree in our front lobby with ornaments the children made. Each class brings something special to the tree! 

Family Culture Project

Our students rocked their family projects! We enjoyed learning about their heritage and traditions through family trees, clothespin dolls and artifacts. 

Decorated Desks

One of the items you can purchase at our class store is to have your desk decorated. These students paid to have their desk decorated for Halloween 😃. 

Thinking about Characters' Traits and Feelings

Students have been learning to go back into their books to find specific examples from the story to prove a character is a certain way or why the character is feeling a certain way. They have been using this information about the characters to learn from them and figure out the lesson learned of the story as well as te theme. Great job class!!

Narrative Writing Celebration

Last week we had our Narrative Writing Celebration with Mrs. Lyons and Mrs. Ciupak's class. Each student partnered up with a friend to share their amazing stories! They complimented each other on their hard work! What a fun way to end a great unit!!
